She’s finished and I’m very happy with how this one turned out. My sister did all the little Sunbonnets and I put them together and quilted them. I have not yet labeled it, but that is in its future. I’m linking up to Elm’s street One monthly goal.
Today, I finished processing the first 60 of 100 pounds of apples. This afternoon, I did rearranging in the barn to get ready for a load of hay, which is supposed to be delivered in the morning. This is not too exciting for most of you. However, having enough hay to get through the winter will be exciting for me.
All the 40 of these have the darts cut now and are sitting at the machine ready to sew.
40# of apples are now applesauce with another 60# in the wings. I’d like to finish before Thanksgiving, but that won’t happen.
The crockpot is full as DH really enjoys the apple butter and that’s what much of this applesauce will become.
And then the raisins! I have had my dehydrators about 35 years and they have been very busy during those years. One quit heating and the other got way to hot, so I now need to replace both of the heaters. However the company has gone out of business, so I’m looking at other options.
For your enjoyment: There are times the hay ends up on someone’s back because they move just as I toss it. As you can see, the one on top really didn’t care where the hay was as long as it was accessible. She was quite willing to jump up on a back.
The morning started with a trip to the grocery. We use a lot of bananas in this house and we were out.

This machine records echocardiograms. It is fascinating to watch the heart as it pumps. No problem with DH’s heart. And truthfully I’m not sure what we are going to do differently. He is back to normal now and the doctor said with exercise, the body will create new pathways to take the place of those that were blocked. That leaves me not knowing how to try to prevent this in the future or when to know if there is trouble.
Just an update because I haven’t been here this week. Monday morning DH woke up unable to get out of bed. The neighboring nurse came over to check on him. He has been in the hospital all week. The Dr. says DH has been having silent mini-strokes, possibly over several weeks. She believes that this and the Parkinson’s are both responsible for his condition. We plan to go home tomorrow and get back to our normal schedule by the end of the week. Thanks for understanding.
Is this as much uncharted territory for you as it is for us? It was like we were in a foreign country speaking a foreign language. The doctor suggested that there have been good outcomes using this for Parkinsonian symptoms without the side effects of pharmaceuticals. I must admit we were out of our comfort zone. But DH will try it for a month and see if he gets better sleep and appetite as well as having better balance. Any one of those would be more than he can get from the medications now offered. If this is something you have had experience with, I’d truly appreciate it if you would share.
I have started making the bowl cozies. They will take a bit of time, but I’m liking them and they are reversible which is terrific. I put the website for making them on yesterday’s blog.
I’m sitting here looking out the window and thinking that I like gray whimpy days. The days where I don’t need to water because at some point within this 24 hour section, it will rain enough to fill water buckets. There is no outside garden to water. And yet, the rain spells are far enough apart that I can feed the animals without getting wet. Often these days have a spell of sunshine as well. Todays gray prediction says the rain will start at 10 tonight So though we don’t expect sun today, it will be dry during chore time and we can enjoy a toasty fire. And our forecast has rain the next 10 days which can really mean anything from real rain all day to whimpy days with rain only while I’m sleeping. Yes, gray, whimpy days can be very good.
