Today there is only a bit of knitting. I had to decide which yarn and which pattern, which became overwhelming and I just went with basic simple socks. I can work on them this month when I can’t do other things.
Since I woke at 2.30 this morning and didn’t get back to sleep for 3 hours, when I did, I overslept. But that was only the start. We went to the doctor an hour away, had a burrito at Whole Foods and then I decided to check out 30/10 weight loss. I have seen what it has done for others. So I did the interview and decided that the program isn’t one with which I’d be happy. There has to be a better way to lose a few pounds. Tomorrow starts a new month, perhaps that’s a good time to start. I do know the less sleep I get, the more I tend to snack.
We made a couple more stops and came home in time to put the animals to bed. Why does being in the car a good share of the day, wear a person out? The weather was so beautiful one should be rested.
And next week promises another curve. I will be having cataract surgery on eye #1 on Tuesday, April 5th and two weeks later the other eye. The doctor promises I will see better and that colors will be brighter. That’s interesting, because I think they are bright now. April will not be a boring month.

Yesterday morning, I thought spring might be on the way. Today, it definitely is not.

Here are 3 sheep photos. This last one you can see one of the dogs with the big fluffy tail. It appeared they rounded the sheep up and were counting them. Of course, we don’t really know what was happening, except they touched noses, then the sheep wandered off to eat.
This has been a big project. (I did hire help). The boxes were moved a bit this winter and another trellis was built. Then we had lost so much soil because over time as one pulls weeds or food out, a bit of soil comes out. So we used 6 bales of peat moss, 18 bags of sand and 3.5 bales of perlite to fill all the boxes again. This time the dirt is only on the bottom, so hopefully we won’t have the weed problem and the food will come out cleaner. It’s the Mittleider method if you are interested. So tomorrow, I absolutely MUST start the veggies seeds so they can be transplanted and I also need to get this fertilized and thoroughly watered this week. I’m a bit late, but the forecast is for freezing nights every night this week and rain through Wednesday. Then if the forecast is correct we’ll get 3 days of sun or partial sun, then more rain.

Finished! I started with 68 stitches on #3 needles, but they seemed a bit small, so actually followed the pattern by using #5 needles. While the leg is so stretchy, there is quite a bit of leeway, the foot, had to be taken down a number of stitches to make it small enough. This is an 8 ply wool, I purchased in Australia, so is a bit thicker than I usually knit. They will probably be very comfortable in my boots.

These socks are progressing nicely. They will have a contrast heel and toe. I’m also happy it is an easy pattern, so I don’t have to think too hard. The pattern I’m using is an internet find, called “Lace Socks” by Jacqueline W. I am using an 8 ply wool made by PANDA. The contrast for the heel and toe is by them as well, but 50% wool and 50% acrylic, so hopefully will wear well.

Another wash cloth designed by Janet Nogle. We were given about 9 rows a day and I was behind. Janet finished the pattern yesterday. However, sitting today gave me opportunity to catch up.
I started these socks on #4 needles, but they are tight. I need to buy some #5 needles and redo them.
These are photos of this week’s groceries $32.89 and 34.95. Plus we got a gallon of honey from the co-op for 50.50 which made 118.34 for this week. We also ate out last week $23. which I didn’t record and again this week $24. So for this month groceries have been 305.24 and eating out has been $73.00. And it’s going to get a lot worse since I’m needing lots of food for an open house for DH’s birthday next week end.
