Multitasking

IMG_2772

The laundry is done, the fleece is soaking – actually rinsing, and it’s a bit late to dry today, but I’ll put it our and it will dry tomorrow.  A quilt is on the long arm

and the embroidery machine is still at work.  It’s just me that is wearing thin.   I still have the hanging baskets to water and then I’ll just drop.   I’m so glad tomorrow is a day of rest.

Sweet Dreams

IMG_2766

I finished enough projects, I could justify starting a new project.   I had so much almost done, but not finished, I would not allow myself to start before now.   This is a baby quilt that I purchased as a kit a few years ago.   The name is “Sweet Dreams  I had intended to make it for a grandchild, but I am informed that will not be happening and there is too much involved to make it for a grand cat.   So I am making it for an extended family member who is having a little girl the first of September.   This is a kit from Sweden and it doesn’t appear to be available anymore.  The company is “kitandcompany.eu” if you want to try to look it up.

A birthday gift

IMG_2748

Our birthday girl (birthday July 19) was having her car worked on locally and asked if we’d like to go out to dinner together along with her DH.   Of course we would and since we won’t see her Sunday, we took the birthday gift.   They both loved the gift.

When I got up this morning, I looked outside and decided it was a wonderful day to applique the ants to the napkins, especially since I was a bit sore from weeding yesterday.    I thought I had until Sunday to get them done, so I was really ahead of the game.   The invitation came as a surprise, but I was delighted to be ready.

Tiny purple hats

IMG_2705

This is just a simple little quilt case.   I used about a yard of fabric, sewed side and bottom and made a casing around the top in case she wants to close it.  I added a used color grabber and 2 fresh ones, for her to use the first time she washes the quilt.   The used one is for her to see how much color they will attract.

These little hats don’t take long per hat, so I was able to get another third done today.  I’m  interested to hear if any one of you is now making any type of little purple hats for the hospitals.

Picnic time finish

IMG_2701

This quilt was a lot of work, but now that it’s complete, it was worth it.   I still have to make a pillowcase to keep it in, but that’s the easy part.

 IMG_2700

This is the label on the back, she doesn’t know about this yet and is on vacation, so will get it in about 3 weeks.

And this  is how my quilts are signed.

Tomorrow, the plan is to work outside  as it has been a bit neglected by me.

Oh, look! Babies!

She’s been hiding somewhere and this is what she brought to show us.  Because they are bantams, they are so tiny and cute.   Look at the one standing by a normal brick.

A day’s work has this table runner nearly finished.   I just have the hand work on the binding to do, so will finish that tonight and call it done.

Alpacas, chickens moved.

It was a difficult morning as we sold our alpacas and chickens and the people came to pick them up today.     After that I spent the day working on the SCORE quilt  – the Seahawks quilt.    Tonight was our oldest son’s birthday and he and his brother invited family and a number of friends to the celebration.  We enjoyed ourselves and met some new people.

I took the quilt along as the border wasn’t finished, but I was able to finish it there before the food was served.  His nephew helped him hold it.  The colors in the first photo are accurate.

It’s picnic time!

IMG_2640

The flimsy for Picnic Time by Lunch Box quilts is now done, ready to tidy up, press, quilt and bind.  OH , that does sound like there is still a bit to be done.   Does any one of you have a suggestion for quilting this.    It challenged my skills in some areas, so I’m happy that I made it.  And I really like it.

Sorry it hangs funny, I must get a wider board, so wider quilts will hang straight.  This quilt is 62″ square.  If you’d like to make one, click on the red words and it will take you to the link.

IMG_2639The service man came this morning and took this apart.   Then he didn’t have a part he needed.   He’s coming back tomorrow, and I really hope he can get it all done.   Another day and parts will start getting lost.

Picnic flimsy

IMG_2631

These are 2 of the 3 rows in this quilt-to-be.  I worked on it most of today, since my studio is in the basement and it is much cooler.  (Yesterday was so hot, we did NOTHING).    I pushed to finish the top today, however, there appears to be a mistake in the pattern.   Since I’m getting tired, I decided to wait until morning to see if the mistake is mine or theirs.

I  pushed to finish this today and like the way it turned out.

Here is a close up of the embroidered  square plus the first borders. My friend, Mary, was kind enough to digitize and sew out the center panel for this.
