This is just getting ridiculous.  I started these socks nearly a month ago and have only just finished the instep.   But I’m on the home stretch now.  Perhaps the elves will finish them this week.   The yarn is 100% wool called Tarantella and produced by Elann     I started the pattern “Dirt”, and shortly realized that I was not following the pattern.   But rather after the ribbing, I worked the first 2 rows with p1,k1 around, then a knit row all around.  Then reversed this and did 2 rows of kl,pl and another knit all the way around.  So there are 6 rows to my pattern.     I continued the way I was going as I had no desire to rip out and start over again.  They will be a good, usable pair of socks

What do you do when half way down the leg, you realize the repeat was for 3 rows each time and you only worked it for 2 rows?    I will just keep going and will knit the socks correctly the next time.    They are still socks which will work just fine in shoes.

NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS

Today, I went to the doctor and he decided he could do a bone graft on my ankle instead of a complete ankle replacement at this time.   So instead of 3 days in the hospital and 3 months off the foot, it will be a 90 minute day surgery and 2 weeks off the foot.   He believes this will buy me another 3-4 years before the big surgery will have to be done.   I am delighted he could do something less invasive and scheduled the surgery for his earliest time which is in December.

The market bag is finished and  very sturdy.   It will be a great gift for someone who likes to carry heavy items as it is a shoulder bag.   The top is white so no color will rub off on the garment being worn.   I used Lion Brand “Thick & Quick”   100% cotton and an “L” hook.   The pattern is on their website as well as on some of the balls of yarn.

And the best thing today was the computer came home.   It did not need a new hard drive, but did have malware and some other “stuff” that needed to be removed.   I am so happy to have it home and because I didn’t have to get a new hard drive, I didn’t have to spend the entire day putting everything back on.

Mostly, it was a time to stop and rest from a very full week, which we did.

 A very tired worn pair of socks that I still enjoy wearing.   I decided they are worth salvaging,

So I carefully cut the toe off and picked up the stitches, which have been semi felted with all the use.  They are now ready to re knit the toe.

Then I went to look for the rest of the yarn.   It may be that the toe, gets put back on with a solid color.

I called the Doctors office this morning for an appointment to check this replacement ankle that I have and they had an appointment in 2.5 hours.   Since it takes an hour and a half sometimes to get there, we quickly had lunch and left.

This was the view from our exam room.   Yes, I have to have the ankle replaced sometime before the end of the year, which means, I better make a list of what I need to get done before then and a list of what I want to have ready to use afterwards, like fiber for spinning and knitting yarns with patterns.   He says that I can’t place weight on the foot for 3 months, but with a wheel chair and a walker, I’ll get around.
