It is quilted now and ready for binding. I’m really hoping to finish this tomorrow as well as transplant tomatoes and get some laundry done. Then there are meals to make for the weekend. Why do these other things get in the way? I guess it’s all a matter of priorities.
The potatoes are now 3 feet tall and growing rapidly. Some are starting to flower, both in here and in the hillside garden.
In front are several zucchini plants, and there is cabbage and lettuce as well as started celery. There is also cauliflower and broccoli near the back and 4 cucumbers. I still have carrots, basil and cantaloupe to put in here. It just takes time to get it all done. We spent today mostly tying up tomatoes, fertilizing, and weeding. My, those weeds are on steroids, they grow so rapidly
A threadbare sheet which has been replaced
with a set of this color (actual color is more champagne). I do not like buying sheets, so until they give up, we keep using them. When they give up, they get repurposed.
Why is it when one finishes off rooms, they just don’t get totally finished. At least this happens at our house. So today, we purchased switch covers for 3 rooms. It really does make the rooms look better. We were short these 2 screws, which we intend to pick up tomorrow.
This is a lamp my father made in the late 1930s. Somehow, the finial was lost in moves
I like to wipe my feet right before getting into bed (maybe because there is always dust or sand or ??). So I purchased a small rug to go on either side of the guest bed.
And a nice little waste basket to complete the basic furnishings of this room.
Then there was a little matter of towels and a rug for the bathroom. Again I used blue. Ewalda, I’m ready for you with your favorite color – blue.

This morning, I picked and washed leaf lettuce, kale, endive, romaine, and Chinese cabbage for a wonderful salad. There were three gallon bags full.
I love walking past the table and seeing the flowers and cards. I know the flowers won’t last long, but I’ll keep them here as long as possible, and then I’ll still have the memories.
Applique goes very slowly, so this much is done. Will work on the other blocks next week.
This is the quinoa salad for Mother’s day lunch. It has tomatoes, broccoli, orange pepper and seasonings.
Aren’t they just the cutest little lambs.
They were born last Sunday and will be nursing for some time yet, however, they were eager to try the weeds that I gave mom. They are so tiny that I need to fix an outdoor place they and mom can get some greens where they don’t get run over by the big sheep.

Since my eyes still aren’t cooperating enough to do much sewing, I’m still working on knitting and gardening. This is Elan’s “Sock it to me” color puzzle. I am using #2 needles and the pattern is K6, P2.

I keep seeing photos of salads in pint jars. So I made enough for us to last until Thursday or Friday, depending on how hungry we are. It is nice chopping all the veggies at one time. It surprised me how much salad can go into a pint. We each had one for supper and my guess is there will be times we will share a salad, depending on how filling the main meal is. In these jars, I started with a couple walnuts, then cuke (though I won’t expect a cuke to last more than 4 days), carrots, celery, red and orange peppers, cauliflower or broccoli with lettuce on top. Then we just turned the jar over into our salad bowls and added dressing. Oh, how convenient! If you look up “salad in a jar” there are many ideas.
Tomorrow at 8, I will have surgery on the other eye. Then in a month, they will check my vision and give me corrective lenses as needed.
For those of you in flooding Texas, our prayers are with you. I know when you asked for our rain, this isn’t what you meant. (It was 88 and beautiful here today)
The runs to the feed store are getting more frequent with more mouths to feed.

Do you remember these sweet potatoes that I put in water. Today I was able to take the starts off them and put them in the water. There are probably 12-15 starts in this jar
