summer socks2

IMG_3612I failed to mention yesterday that the yarn used was Regia and I knitted them as a “plain Jane” pair of  socks.

I only had to finish the toes on these socks today, so was little knitting.   They are knit from  “Sock it to me” by Elan.   I started a scarf, which I should have been able to do in an afternoon, but I think my mind is being played with.   I ripped back several times and ended up going back to the beginning.   Maybe tomorrow.

Another pair of socks

IMG_3611

I have been working on these socks during our drives and in the hospital waiting room and they are finished.  They are a dark green with a yellow and other lighter green, but the photo does not show this well.

As far as the surgery, it apparently went well, but has left me exhausted.   Perhaps next week will be better.   I want to thank those of you who kept me in their prayers

Countdown

IMG_3632

I spent the morning making soups.   We now have enough soup in the refrigerator to have soup once every day throughout December.   There are also patties and vegetables hiding in there.   DH does know how to cook potatoes, so I think we’re good for food.

Then a wee trip to Office Depot produced a large calendar and a daily book, plus some pencils and a few Christmas cards

And this had to come out of storage.  So now I’m ready.

Flower baskets are finished

IMG_3625

It has been a busy day, with a trip to Costco thrown in.   But I did get this quilt bound and am happy with the way it turned out.  Below is the back.

Flower baskets on my quilt

IMG_3609

I really pushed it today to get this done.   And except for the binding and the clean up, it is done.   Below is a portion of the back.    I found it to be challenging to switch back and forth from one design to another and then to have them going at different angles on the quilt.

Bright and sunny Black Friday 2015

IMG_1038

It’s been bright and sunny and COLD here.  There is nothing I could want badly enough to stand in those lines in this cold.   Instead, I went to the gym,  put another quilt on the machine, caught up on some email, and did some furniture rearranging so we can enjoy the fireplace.   Above you see our three grandsons with the fleece Seahawk caps I made them.

And here are the turkey veggie platters Christian and I put together.  One has a cheese ball, the other has hummus.

IMG_3608

And I had this in my pile of recipes, so I don’t know where it came from, except the internet.

Our daughter and her husband just remodeled and had this huge granite serving counter put in.   It is absolutely the best for serving our large family and friends.

And lastly, here is a candid shot of DH and myself, courtesy of daughter.

Thankful turkey

IMG_3598

IMG_3596Mr. Gobbles is one happy turkey today.   He gets to keep on strutting and entertaining us and our visitors.   He along with us hopes that each of you has had a very Happy Thanksgiving, filled with thanks for all the Lord has given us.

IMG_3599

I did get time to knit a bit on these summer socks and have now started the toes.   They should soon be done.

Happy Thanksgiving & Company

IMG_3591

Today we had company and tomorrow we are company.   So no sewing has been done.   I went to the gym this morning and then to the grocery store, where I succumbed to a pair of beautiful poinsettia plants.  I made lunch and we had a great visit.    Christian and I arranged 2 veggie platters to look like turkeys, but they have gone to be part of tomorrow’s meal.  So perhaps I can get a photo before they get eaten.

My wish for each of you is a Happy Thanksgiving

Personal day

IMG_3574

Out of the house a bit earlier this morning,

with lots of rain and traffic IMG_3576on our way to downtown Seattle to the foot and ankle Dr. and the anesthesiologist pre-op.

IMG_3579The office and the scene from the window

IMG_3588  Here are the views of my current ankle.   The medical team needs to remove the three top screws and patch a lot of what looks dark behind the white which looks like an old fashioned phone receiver on the left.   So the procedure is to drill a small hole in the top of the tibia (bone that runs down the front of the leg), take some of that interior bone, grind it to powder and mix it with inert bone, then insert it into the area that needs more bone because it has worn away from the friction of the hardware.  Because this is living bone, they expect it will reproduce where needed.   At least this is the plan for next Wednesday, which has worked well for many patients.    They are hoping that it will work well for me as well.   They will not know until they try it.    If it does not work, they will have to go back in and replace the entire business.    I know what I want.   I do not know what God thinks will be best for me.IMG_3589

This is a mere 3 hour or more, depending on how it goes, operation.   And I am so blessed to live at a time and place where this can happen so that I can continue to walk.

So after this morning visit, we decided to stop for lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant which was new to us, and found the food to be very good.

Tonight, I’m tired, and just making lists.  Then, tomorrow we will have company. and Thanksgiving is elsewhere.   Oh, how fast the days go!

Inventory and planning (list making)

No  photos today because you know what paper looks like.     I spent a good share of the afternoon taking inventory of what was completed last year and was surprised to find that the items on my list were not what I completed most of.   In fact, there were many items completed that weren’t even thought of yet.   They  were items that came across my  path that I sidetracked to do.   Still lists are good because without direction, I waste too much time,   This year’s inventory so far is completed and I have started the lists of what I want to accomplish in each department next year.

I will have a list for quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, dolls, garden, embroidery, learning new skills, exercise,  and maybe others.   Then I will divide those by months.    I know that the goals will not all be met, in fact more probably will not be met, than will be met.   But oh, how much more will get done than if I didn’t have lists.

Do you make lists?   If you do, let’s share and if you don’t, try a small list.   You might find it makes a difference in your life.
