Crochet (after housework)

IMG_1755After we spent the morning doing housework, it was time for a break.   Mary came over, which is always a treat, and had lunch with us.    Afterward I brought out the yarn.   We could not find the pattern for the blanket I wanted to make, but Mary remembered how it went.   So she started this blanket and we both worked on it.

Of course, the yarn had a fit and didn’t want to come out to play nicely, so while I worked on the blanket, Mary rolled this lovely new ball from which to work.   It is a beautiful Paton baby color and I think the baby’s mother will enjoy using it.

Bill (DH) even joined the party by crocheting on a purple baby hat.     So now we have a much cleaner abode and fun projects started.

Baby blanket crochet

IMG_1533Lunch was Expresso enchiladas at Rio Blanco.   They are loaded with vegetables:   celery, onions, mushrooms, and a couple others, plus rice.   They make them with corn for those who can’t have wheat.   Excellent.

This really is a bit above my level.   But I have been learning with this project.   Tonight I looked at it again and will  probably take it apart and crochet a different blanket.   I really don’t care for baby blankets with such big holes in the lace as those tiny fingers find their way into them.

Knitting guru dishcloth n Seahawks cap

IMG_1468

dishcloth is composed of only two rows repeated throughout, a very easy beginner’s knitting project

This Seahawk cap was a gift for my daughter who is an avid Seahawk fan.

She loved it!   A friend makes them in several team colors and wanted to make this for her.

Heavy cowl

The weather has been in the freezing zone at night,  very cold for here.   I looked at my yarn and thought about those who don’t have nice, cozy, warm homes.  I found this very heavy fiber and crocheted a cowl for our street mission where food and warm clothing is given to those who need it.

To make this I made a chain of 60 stitches, a single crochet at each end and double crochets for the rest.   So it wasn’t difficult.   I think when I make more that I will use a lighter weight yarn as the heavy weight isn’t as fun to work.  But this is nice and warm.

The rest of today and a lot of tomorrow will be spent putting an operating system and all the programs and data on the computer.

Little red hat

Today I opened my mail box to find this request for little red hats.   It just happens that there has been a skein of red yarn floating around here for the last week.   I have no idea from where it came or why there might be only one.   However, I did put it to good use.  I did one in newborn size, and 2 sizes for preemies.
