Would you believe that a bolt of fleece, which is 8 yards, produces 136 of these little hats and YES, they are done. That completes the fleece hats for this year. They don’t collect them officially until September, but they are DONE
No photos, but also several loads of laundry were done and some tidying up, Anytime I start feeling like I don’t want to do housework or laundry, I remember how many don’t have it to do. That makes me realize it is a blessing to be able to do these mundane chores.
136 purple baby hats are now cut and ready to sew! These are 8.5″ high and 15″ wide.
I met a young woman with lots of energy who likes to clean house. So she helped me take these rooms from storage to usable. We started with the bedroom, which I hope to turn into a guest room
Then the used and abused kitchen area. It looks so clean and pretty now with everything put away and all the dish cloths and towels where they belong, as well as the pile of things on the table that didn’t seem to have a home. There really was a table under all of those items.
This is the other half of that room. The tables that we started the plants on this spring are all down and planting supplies are no longer in this room, for the most part. The lights are still here with a shelving unit, but out of the way. It feels so good to have this all done. I know you probably would have liked to have seen it before we started, but I forgot, besides I’m not sure that I wanted you to see.
The current plan is to have it ready for me to recuperate in. That will eliminate the steps for the first month or however long it takes to get up and down them again.
I just realized it is nearly July and I must start now to get done the projects I want to finish for charity. Besides I needed diversion from the quilt making. So I pulled out this purple bolt, I purchased the day after Thanksgiving and started cutting the little purple hats for the hospital’s “purple hat” program. There are 8 yards on a bolt which when cut 8.5″ high and 15″ wide will give 136 little hats. All the 8.5″ strips are cut, and I have started cutting the 15″ widths.
I’m remaking this blanket and now have a blanket 32″ wide. I have 8″ done, and would like it to be at least square, so I will be crocheting on it between other projects. It would be nice to get it done this month, but no hurry. I’m using a one pound skein of Paton’s baby sport yarn
I have 2 quilts to be done by the end of the month, then Mary and I can start our charity project for this year. The projects I’m looking at are:
1 bolt of fleece made into purple baby hats for the hospital. (DH is crocheting hats)
Dresses for African girls
Shorts for African boys
Sanitary pads for the African teen girls.
There may be other projects to consider, that haven’t come up yet. Do you have other ideas, we should consider? Would you be interested in helping with a project? I’d love to hear from you.
