Footsteps is now bound and finished. It was an embroidery design by Anita Goodesign that has been waiting to get embroidered. It is done in tiles. One hoops the muslin and then when the block is outlined, put in the fabric you are using. That saves a lot of fabric as it is not hooped – just treated as applique.Hedgehog wall piece
I had some crazy idea that I was going to make placemats out of this cute pattern. However, after doing this piece, which is paper pieced and the leaves are hand quilted, I decided that I would not want to soil anything that takes this long to make. The hand quilting was difficult as I was going through unwashed fabric and an iron on interfacing.
So I scrapped that idea and just finished off this little hanging. Now I know why it has been a ufo for 10-12 years. This is one of the quilts in the book “Happy Holiday quilting” by House of White Birches.

Friendship Quilt for Carolyn ufo
I cannot trace this quilt pattern as I started it several years ago. I had some of the red blocks done and now am adding more colors. I think it will take at least 40 blocks which means there is room for many more colors, but I will be deciding as I go.
On my original pattern it says “Friendship Quilt for Carolyn in Colorado” and the bottom left rectangle is intended to have the name of the maker and in the right side triangle the city, state where that person lived.

Man’s coin quilt
The Man’s coin quilt is finished. I’m totally happy with how it turned out. It used many dark colors which is a pallet I’m not very comfortable with. It is 51 x 71″ and should handle much use between washes. I love these coin quilts as they go together so fast and look so good.

First pair of socks finished in 2017!
We had about 1/2″ of snow when I awoke this morning. So no rush in getting around. I finished these Br0nwynn’s Mock Cable socks. They were made with Paton’s Fireside 5 ply 100% wool, which is why the nylon reinforced heel and toe and on size 3 needles which made them go faster. That means I
actually finished February socks in February! I did find the free pattern in Ravelry. It won’t let me copy and paste the page address so just look for Bronwynn’s Mock Cable Socks by Shawn Morris. . I didn’t realize the name was not the name of the creator. So any of you interested can get it there.
Then I finished setting up Quicken for all our accounts. I used to keep it up to date, but DH took over paying the bills and doesn’t like to bother. So the compromise is I take care of Quicken and he pays the bills. It makes it so much easier when you have to pull numbers together for a project or for taxes.
Churn dash finish; sleeping bags
Today was a relaxed morning. I skipped gym and didn’t do my steps, however, we did deliver the sleeping bags to the church, went to the grocery store, and relaxed a bit before noon.
I tried something new today, which was using fleece on the back of this quilt. It is very cuddly which I’m hoping makes up for the “issues” I had. It quilted beautifully, but I must have stretched the fleece, so it doesn’t lie flat. Another factor was that I wanted to do it freehand which is not something I’m good at. I like how that part turned out, but it distracted me to the point that I didn’t keep all the quilt tension bars at the proper tension. So this also affected the overall look. I’m going to put it through a wash and see if that relaxes it more together. I am pleased with most of it and I think the soft cuddly”ness” of it will override the beginner look. I’m always learning, but I also see where I’ve made progress.
Dark Coins quilt flimsy
I took the photo of this quilt hanging over the quilting machine so you could see the quilting. It’s amazing the time dark, rainy days provide for sewing. Now that the sewing and quilting are done, only the binding needs to be attached. I believe I’ll get this project done THIS month. Then I’ll work on my Churn Dash again. I’d like to get it done as well. I’m not sure what the best way to quilt it is, so I’m open to suggests on that.
Sorting and cleaning in the kitchen
I keep my spices in alphabetical order in this drawer, but some were very outdated and I also had some overflow. I was ready for a change today, so I worked on this. I emptied several jars that were outdated. The ones needing replacing are put in upside down and when I open a new jar, I mark the date on it.
Without all the little spice jars up here, I can actually see and get to what is in this cupboard. What does one do with the space behind the jars, when one can’t reach back there without a ladder? don’t have that many things that I just store. I’m happy that now I can find what I’m looking for without taking everything out. That also means I will use them more.

This churn dash flimsy is finished because several of you were kind enough to give me suggestions to help this quilt be more acceptable. Thank you so very much for the suggestions. Here are the added embroideries.
Look at what a difference they made and also the borders. Sometimes, it’s just hard to see where to go, when you get surprises like all the white it had. That’s when it is so great to have friends like you. I’m happy with it now. Mary came over today and we spent the day playing with this and catching up on life. I love her visits!
SURPRISE:
I had given up on this Cormo ewe getting pregnant – she didn’t last year – and she sure didn’t look like she had put on weight. But yesterday morning when she didn’t show up to eat, I went looking for her and this little girl was just learning to stand. She is so cute and precious! Under the mud the back leg is white. I am delighted with this surprise.

Churn Dash almost flimsy
OK, I am in trouble this time. I didn’t map this out and didn’t realize how much white there would be. And I didn’t calculate yardage so I am out of the dark blue with the little bears. But I did have enough with small scraps left. So I think I will just use a plain dark blue to match the dark blue in the quilt as a border. But what am I going to do with all that white space? I need suggestions here. There are 15 squares and 6 big diamonds.
